Santa Cruz Works' first AWS Office Hours Event a Rousing Success!

On Tuesday evening, December 6, Santa Cruz Works held its first AWS Office Hours Event, co-sponsored by Cruzio Internet, Santa Cruz Tech Beat, Santa Cruz New Tech Meetup, and Amazon Web Services.  
 
Nearly one hundred enthusiastic software developers and technologists signed up for the first ever Amazon Web Services Office Hours event on December 6. at Cruzio Internet Event sponsor Santa Cruz Works invited AWS to give the community a free overview of the latest cloud services introduced at their annual re:Invent conference. Over 200 local technologists participated in person and via the Facebook live stream, indicating the strong local demand for cloud computing knowledge.
 
30 minutes of networking, food and drink followed by a short introduction by SCW Executive Director Heather Putnam, Ph. D. kicked off the evening. Head of Storage Product Marketing Drew Meyer introduced Amazon, Solutions Architect Tom Jones presented a quick overview of Serverless Computing and a longer review of the major new services introduced at AWS re:Invent. Audience members enthusiastically engaged in 30 minutes of live Q&A at the end with the experts.
