5th Graders Robotmakers at Blue Innovation Day 2024
At this year's Blue Innovation Day on October 6, 2024, a group of passionate fifth graders known as the FLL Team Robotmakers will be showcasing their exciting work in the world of robotics and marine science. As part of their participation in the FIRST LEGO League (FLL), these young innovators have been hard at work on an important innovation project focused on the impact of sonar on whales.
The team has been researching how sonar technology, commonly used in ocean exploration and naval operations, can affect whales and other marine life. Through their project, they've gained a deeper understanding of the complex interactions between human technology and marine life, and they are eager to share their findings with visitors at the event. Their goal is to raise awareness about the importance of protecting these majestic creatures while balancing technological advancements.
In addition to their research, FLL Team Robotmakers have designed and built a robot entirely from LEGOs, programmed to complete ocean-themed tasks. The robot is a part of the FLL robotics competition, where teams are challenged to solve real-world problems using innovative robotics. The robot will perform tasks such as moving objects and simulating underwater exploration, giving attendees a glimpse of how creativity and engineering can come together to tackle big challenges.
The Robotmakers hope to inspire future generations of young engineers and conservationists. By sharing what they've learned about sonar’s effects on whales and their experience in building a functioning robot, they aim to spark interest in robotics and encourage others to start their own FLL teams. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet the FLL Team Robotmakers at Blue Innovation Day!
