Annieglass Donating 20% of Online Sales

Daisy Chain heart shaped dish from Annieglass’s 2023 spring collection.

Watsonville-based sustainable, handcrafted glass company, Annieglass Inc. is donating 20% of online sales to the Community Foundation of Santa Cruz County’s disaster relief fund. Funds will go towards helping local businesses recover from flood and storm damage during the atmospheric river that hit Santa Cruz County in early 2023.

Santa Cruz County was hit by extreme weather in the first two weeks of January that resulted in over $55 million in damages. The shorelines of Capitola and Soquel Villages, Seacliff State Beach, as well as Watsonville homes and businesses, are now faced with hefty costs for rebuilding and repairing after the storms.

20% of Annieglass sales from online purchases from now until the end of February will be donated to the CFSCC’s Disaster Fund.

"I remember the storms of 1981 and '82 and I was shocked to see how much worse the county was hit this time around. It was eerie to be working in our Atlanta showroom during Market Week and reading the NY Times with datelines like ‘Soquel’, ‘Aptos’, and ‘Watsonville’. I was getting frantic texts from managers in our Watsonville factory, PG&E alerts, evacuation warnings and the Pajaro River flood gauge. I kept checking in with them and the neighbors and watching footage on national television from 3000 miles away. Many of our wholesale customers were checking in as well. My daughter Ava insisted we stay closed on Jan. 4 so as not to endanger our staff. We had some minor flooding and problems with our water main backing up but it was nothing compared to so many in Watsonville.

‘What goes around, comes around’ is an Annieglass mantra originating back in 1989 when the first knock-offs (copies) of Annieglass started appearing.
