Get Virtual Helps 150 Businesses Increase Digital Footprint and Online Services

The GetVirtual program connects college students that have an innate digital skill set with local Santa Cruz businesses that need help with developing their online presence. Many Santa Cruz businesses began in the digital-analog age and have owners that need help navigating the online e-commerce world.

“We began as a direct response to COVID. We continue because the students love the work and feel a purpose in helping the community while getting experience. Along with website creation and social media tutoring, we added to our services customer discovery and business model development for startups.  We have helped 150 businesses since we began in March 2020.” - Get Virtual Team

In addition to helping businesses, Get Virtual has helped several students develop useful skills. Here’s what one student had to say:

“Over the course of working with GetVirtual, I’ve perfected my time management skills. I gathered a myriad of incredibly useful and relevant information to the realm of business. One of my favorite memories I’ll take with me after this quarter ends is the opportunity we’ve been offered to work closely with our team members, innovate, and share ideas during our creative processes. I am forever grateful for how this class expanded my personal and professional horizons! Thank you!”- Elena Osain, UCLA Graduating Class of 2024

And here’s what another student had to say about their experience with GetVirtual

“I gained so much new knowledge and insights after taking entrepreneurial courses at UCSC. I got to experience being a project manager for various businesses through GetVirtual. This experience working with clients and team members has been an amazing journey.” Sierra Ganage, UCSC Graduating Class of 2024

The program has provided an excellent ground for recent grads to further expand their network and continue to contribute to their community.

"Through GetVirtual’s intersection of social responsibility and entrepreneurship, I have grown as a professional, entrepreneur, and humanitarian while simultaneously giving back to a place I consider home. My hope is that we recruit universities and students throughout the country and globe and that they share a similar experience.”- Nikky Cherukuthota, UCSC Graduating Class of 2019 and GetVirtual Co-founder and Instructor
