Want to Fly A Joby Aircraft? Now You Can.

On November 19, 2024, Joby Aviation, Inc. (NYSE:JOBY), the company developing electric air taxis for commercial use, announced exciting news for aviation and eVTOL enthusiasts. You can now fly Joby's revolutionary aircraft in the latest edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024!

This inclusion lets people experience the future of flight from the pilot's seat. Joby Aviation, CEO JoeBen Bevirt shared his excitement about the announcement:

“We’re incredibly excited to share our revolutionary aircraft with aviation enthusiasts of all ages and backgrounds, giving everyone an opportunity to experience the intuitive and effortless controls we have designed. We can’t wait to see where people will choose to take off and land with our aircraft, using its flexibility to explore cities and communities in a new way.”

The Joby aircraft is unique because it can take off and land vertically like a helicopter but then fly forward like a regular airplane. This is thanks to their special "unified flight controls" system, similar to what's used in advanced military aircraft.

In Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, you can fly the Joby between airports and helipads around the world. This even includes potential routes for Joby's future air taxi service, like JFK Airport to Manhattan (where Joby already did real-life test flights!). This collaboration between Joby and Microsoft ensures the in-game aircraft accurately reflects the real plane's look, feel, and flight characteristics.

The real Joby air taxi boasts impressive features: carrying a pilot and four passengers, reaching speeds of up to 200 mph (much faster than a helicopter!), and operating quietly with zero emissions.

The Joby electric air taxi is available in the latest edition of Microsoft Flight Simulator. Joby is working to develop Level 7 and Level C flight simulation training devices with CAE, a global leader in pilot training and simulation.
