2. 2022 Joby Field Trip

Electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft company, Joby Aviation held an exclusive facility tour in Marina, CA on October 13, 2022 for a select number of special guests. Santa Cruz Works received an exclusive invite to able to attend the five hour tour to meet employees, see a demo of the aircraft, and hear from CEO of Joby Aviation, JoeBen Bevirt. 3. Z Hacks 2020

Z Hacks was an inclusive hackathon event hosted by Santa Cruz Works from September 19-25, 2020. Conventional hackathons are primarily for coders but Z Hacks was the first inclusive hackathon which included digital arts, dance, song, story tellers, and anyone with any skill set. There were over 370 participants from 9 different countries who created 64 team projects for Z Hacks designed to address three categories: Pandemic, Environment, and Social Justice.

4. Joby Aircraft in Transport

Before Joby Aviation set up camp in Marina, the idea of seeing their groundbreaking aircraft in the sky was as rare as a good hair day for Donald Trump. But then, out of nowhere, boom! They started doing test flights over the Central Coast and caught the attention of locals like Will Mayall. Sure, it was being towed kind of like a kid in one of those harness-leash things you see at the mall. But the sight of the aircraft airborne, ladies and gentlemen, was more delightful than watching a cat video on YouTube for the first time. Progress and aviation evolution happening right before our eyes. Fascinating stuff, really!
