Watsonville natural bath, body and skincare company Smith & Vandiver doesn’t normally produce hand cleanser, but mobilized its facility to produce at least 18,000 bottles to help residents, first responders and its employees during this crisis.

“I’m the type of person that runs to a fire, not away from it,” president Jeff Slaboden said. “Giving back is what we should all do.”

As featured in the Santa Cruz Sentinel, March 31, 2020 - Smith & Vandiver gave away and sold 3,200 containers of cleanser last week. It has delivered cleanser to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, as well as to regional post offices. The company has also gifted cleanser to Jacob’s Heart, Sutter Health, Dominican Hospital, Food Bank, the Watsonville Police and Fire departments, Aptos/La Selva Fire.

S&V expects to produce 25,000-30,000 bottles of hand cleanser this week. These bottles vary in size: from 3 ounces to 8.5 ounces and 48 ounces for refills and will be discounted for first responders. S&V has made the cleanser available for purchase online, which will cover the basic cost for their ongoing future give aways.
