When Karissa Wood from Amazon Web Services reached out to the AWS Heros network with a request to host an International Women’s Day event, Chris Miller, CEO of Cloud Brigade aka AWS Machine Learning Hero, jumped at the offer.
We (Cloud Brigade) were in the process of repurposing our office at the Historic Wrigley Building into a Learning Lab, and the timing was perfect. A long time member of the Santa Cruz tech community, Miller is no stranger to working with strong female leaders in town.
“I believe everyone should have the opportunity to reach their full potential, and unfortunately the playing field has never been level. It is super easy to be an ally, and we had the space available to facilitate the event.”
AWS is providing a guest speaker - Rosa Elena Lorenzana is a Solutions Architecture Leader at Amazon Web Services (AWS) from nearby San Jose. Rosa Elena is passionate about enabling women to obtain roles within the tech sector and in particular the lucrative cloud computing sector.
Rosa Elena with present best practices for pursuing or transitioning to a new job in the tech industry, and tips/tricks to pursue the many job opportunities available.
This Women in Tech event will be held on at 6pm on Wednesday March 30th, at The Wrigley Building, 2801 Mission Street Extension. Tickets are free.
