Workbench: SCW Company Spotlight Breakfast
The foggy morning did not stop over 45 people from attending the Santa Cruz Works Company Spotlight Breakfast at Workbench. Many of us who have lived in Santa Cruz for 10-20-30 years never knew there was a street downtown called “Bulkhead”. And there we were at 8am bright eyed, on the same day that Google announced $1B funding for affordable housing for the region. Workbench focuses on multi-family housing projects. And with 1,000 new living units slated for Pacific Ave, there was much to discuss.
Workbench is a concept to completion building studio that develops, designs, and constructs projects that enhance our community. They handle every aspect of a project, from initial feasibility, though design and ultimately, the finished building. They specialize in multi-family housing and commercial work and are proud to be a part of such a vibrant, creative and innovative local business culture.
As a passionate group of architects and builders who all live within the County of Santa Cruz, “Workbench’ers” are deeply invested in the overall success of our hometown. Not just today, but for the long term. And not just for the few, but for the many. Housing is a critical component to our collective ability to thrive as individuals, businesses and a community. Creating quality housing near our booming local job markets will help ensure this success for many people and for many years to come.
