Supporting Sequencing Effort in Santa Cruz County

We learned in our recent event COVID-19 Mutations and You the importance of UCSC’s efforts to sequence the virus. While there are over 200,000 sequence results worldwide, sequencing in Santa Cruz County is just getting started. It will enable us to track mutations and contagion speed. It is the ultimate detective that can give us a history of up to 5 prior contacts. From this we can learn when the virus variants begin, and study further to understand what conditions caused the variant.

Many attendees expressed interest in donating to Professor David Haussler’s call for funds to support sequencing of virus samples in Santa Cruz County. Click on the link below to provide your support.
