Habitat for Humanity Monterey Bay is committed to Affordable Housing and Homeownership in our community.

Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties are recognized as having some of the least affordable housing markets in the country, with a 2022 median sale price hovering at $925K. Demand for housing far outweighs supply and the need for affordable housing has never been more urgent.

Habitat for Humanity Monterey Bay builds homes that provide hardworking, low-income families the benefit of stable housing and helps break the cycle of generational poverty. Children who grow up in Habitat homes have increased health, education opportunities, and long-term self-sufficiency.

Our current challenges include land acquisition, volunteer coordination across multiple build sites and the cost of infrastructure for new low-income housing developments.
