The Monterey Bay area chapter of Women in GIS is professional and social organization, as well as an advocacy group for women and non-binary people. The aim of Monterey Bay Women in GIS is to serve as a safe, welcoming place for women from all geospatial fields to:
Share experiences, accomplishments, interests and new projects
Discuss best practices, tips and tricks of the trade;establish a community of professional women with shared interests
Work towards overcoming job discrimination
Lower pay, professional isolation, and other common barriers women might face
Foster personal and professional relationships and resource sharing among members and institutions
They will be hosting casual monthly meetings meant to foster relationships and resource sharing among local women in GIS. Each month they will have different discussion topics to get conversations rolling. You are invited to the first ever meeting of the Monterey Bay chapter of Women in GIS! For this month, the topic is: Women's History Month! They will be spotlighting notable women in GIS and doing introductions to meet all of our amazing attendees and new members.
