Joby Recognized in Popular Science's "50 Greatest Inventions of 2024"

Popular Science is a science magazine and website with an audience of over 6 million annual readers that aims to make complex scientific concepts accessible to a general audience by covering a wide range of topics, including technology, engineering, space exploration, health, and the environment. They launched their first ever Best of What’s New Awards in 1988.

This year’s 37th Annual Edition includes 50 of the Greatest Inventions of 2024 in the following categories: Gadgets, Entertainment, Aerospace, Personal Care, Auto, Engineering, Sports & Outdoors, Home, Emergency Services, and Health.

Joby Aviation’s hydrogen-electric VTOL air taxi was selected as the Grand Award Winner in the Aerospace category for completing a 523 mile flight from Boston to Washington without stopping at an airport and generating no emissions.

Other winners in the Aerospace category include: Polaris Dawn spacewalk by SpaceX: First EVA by private astronauts, Mk-II Aurora rocket-powered aircraft by Dawn Aerospace: A rapidly reusable spacecraft, X-59 Quiet Supersonic Transport by NASA and Lockheed Martin: A return to supersonic air travel, Europa Clipper by NASA: Searching for life’s ingredients in Jupiter’s orbit.
