Even before Santa Cruz Works was fully formed, Matthew played a critical role alongside Doug Erickson in nurturing its precursor, the Santa Cruz New Tech Meetup. This early effort laid the groundwork for what would become a thriving hub for tech and innovation in our community. His own venture, Event Santa Cruz, has become a local institution in its own right, spotlighting both the sung and unsung heroes of our county with events like the Nexties and Midtown Fridays.
