Mynt Systems Energizes Beckmann's

Mynt Systems will be presenting alongside environmental innovators at the upcoming Santa Cruz Work Green Tech event which will be held on April 7, 2021. Stay tuned for details.

Mynt Systems is a building performance firm, with a focus on zero-net-energy retrofit projects that provide services in energy assessments and construction management.

CHALLENGE: Beckmann's previous manufacturing space was 26,000 square feet,. with an additional refrigerated/freezer space located in Watsonville. They wanted to increase production and reduce costs associated with traveling between their production and storage facilities.

SOLUTION: The current location on 17th Avenue is 47,000 square feet, with 6,000 square feet on-site refrigerated/freezer space, all in one location reducing costs and fuel associated with having two locations. A 240' long truck dock able to accommodate 21 delivery trucks. Currently employing around 140 people. Operational almost 24 hours a day. Relocation took place in October, after 90 days of construction, to meet holiday demands and a 30% increase in sales and production. Beckmann's has not relocated their production since the 1989 Earthquake destroyed their facility. Since they were now having to complete a relocation during a global pandemic we worked overtime to ensure their production schedule was not affected. Mynt’s new systems enabled 621,000 annual kWh of energy savings.

Energy efficiency measures include new high efficiency HVAC equipment as well as LED lighting throughout. The 414.18 kW rooftop solar photovoltaic system has already produced 659 MWh which is equivalent to 1 millions pounds of CO2 or 7,700 trees planted. It's projected to offset 90% of their total annual electric usage.
