Petron Scientech Taps Verdagy for 320 MW Green Hydrogen Electrolyzers in Bio-Refinery
Verdagy, a leader in green hydrogen electrolysis, has partnered with Petron Scientech, a company with over 35 years of expertise in renewable chemical and biofuel technologies. Petron will deploy 320 MW of Verdagy’s eDynamic® electrolyzers to produce over 45 kilo tons per annum (KTA) of green hydrogen for its first biorefinery project, which will create sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), renewable diesel, and e-Methanol. This project will cut CO2 emissions by 500 KTA from hydrogen alone, with a total reduction of 2 megatons per year—or over 60 megatons across the project’s lifetime.
To put this into perspective, Petron’s hydrogen production could provide enough clean energy to power a city of about 100,000 homes for a year, which is roughly the size of cities like Santa Cruz or Boulder, Colorado., demonstrating how green hydrogen can support energy needs while significantly reducing carbon emissions. This partnership exemplifies the innovative solutions necessary for a sustainable, low-carbon future.
Petron Scientech will use Verdagy’s green hydrogen in its sustainability-focused biorefineries to produce e-Methanol for shipping companies and potentially support the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for leading airlines. The green hydrogen will also play a key role in manufacturing renewable chemicals and bio-based products, replacing fossil feedstocks and significantly reducing carbon emissions. This partnership enables Petron to scale its low-carbon technologies globally, achieving significant CO2 reductions while advancing the transition to cleaner fuels and materials.
