UCSC Tech4Good Luncheon
Written by David T. Lee, UCSC Assistant Professor Computational Media, Faculty Director
It's been six years since the first undergraduate student joined the Tech4Good Lab at UC Santa Cruz. Since then we've been on a journey to redesign education to cultivate each person's full potential and we now have 100+ students a quarter (200+ a year) working on diverse projects to support a flourishing future of education, work, and community engagement. Some of those students have helped to start and run programs like our exploratory reading groups and course-based community consultancy which serve even more students and community members.
Luncheon
The Tech4Good Lab at UC Santa Cruz is organizing its first annual Tech4Good community luncheon on April 29th from 11:30-1pm.
The hope for the luncheon is to share bits of the journey we're on with all the alumni, family members, staff, donors, partners, and community members who inspire us and who make it all possible. We hope that people who attend will encounter ideas that stimulate their imagination, meet students and hear stories that inspire them, and strengthen relationships with old friends or make new ones.
If you are a community member passionate about education, work, and community engagement, you are welcome to join us! RSVP at https://bit.ly/tech4good-luncheon and confirm your attendance and select a complimentary meal option at https://forms.gle/U8jW7ydgZTpNQjTM9, ideally by 4/17.
We are also looking for employers interested in sponsoring the event. We have talented, hard-working, and diverse students who care about using their skills and experiences to make an impact on society. Our team leads take on significant leadership responsibilities where they learn to define milestones, delegate tasks, hold 1-on-1s, support student career goals, give direct feedback, and create a strong team culture.
