Alexa for Everyone Team Partners with Santa Cruz Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired
Amazon Santa Cruz teams continue to make key contributions in Alexa and Mobile technologies. The local Alexa for Everyone team recently worked with the Santa Cruz Vista Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired to make the new Show and Tell Alexa capability that recognizes objects for vision-impaired customers. On Wednesday, Amazon held their annual devices event, where the local Developer Marketing team helped launch new capabilities for the Alexa Skills Kit that help developers build more personalized Alexa Skills for these new device and in more languages. The Amazon Mobile team builds the Alexa companion app, critical to any customer connecting and using these new devices.

A companion app is available from the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Amazon Appstore. The app can be used by owners of Alexa-enabled devices to install skills, control music, manage alarms, and view shopping lists.[23] It also allows users to review the recognized text on the app screen and to send feedback to Amazon concerning whether the recognition was good or bad. A web interface is also available to set up compatible devices (e.g., Amazon Echo, Amazon Dot, Amazon Echo Show).
