Back in July 2024, we wrote an article titled “Revolutionizing Active Lifestyle Wear with Art and Function” about a startup called ScervGear that was in the works. As of April 15, the bold new apparel brand born at the intersection of skate, snow, streetwear, and naturally a little surf, has officially launched. Founded by local skateboarder and snowboarder August Duncan, ScervGear is redefining what active lifestyle clothing can be—stylish, functional, and made to move. We are delighted to see the brand has officially launched and is gaining altitude.
What started as a personal project is evolving into a full-fledged outerwear line that merges technical precision with a creative, streetwear aesthetic - now for skate, but the sea and the slopes already have prototypes being tested.
Duncan has been designing and building since he was a child. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design and Apparel (offered scholarships at both California College of the Arts (CCA) and School of the Arts Institute of Chicago (SAIC)) and launched ScervGear to solve a problem he personally faced: finding skate pants that truly support freedom of movement.
Every garment is rigorously tested by athletes and refined with their feedback to ensure performance in real-life movement. From top-stitched detailing and curved seams to technical vents and functional pockets, ScervGear pieces are engineered for comfort, mobility, and everyday wear—on or off the board.
The debut collection launched in April 2025, featuring the Curvy Baggy Skate Pants and Swervy Relaxed Fit Sweatshirt. Early reviews have been overwhelmingly positive—even among non-skaters who simply love the gear’s fit, feel, and versatile style.
As the brand grows, it continues to channel the spirit of Santa Cruz’s dynamic boarding culture into every stitch. August commented “I’m thankful for the article Santa Cruz Works published nine months ago and the connections they have helped make to launch ScervGear.”
