The Brand Audit You Should Be Doing
Myspace was a hugely popular social media platform until Facebook came along and surpassed it. Nowadays, it seems like there is a new social media app blowing up in the app store every week and along with it comes new internet trends and products going viral left and right. The strategies and channels that were once used and successful for brands are no longer the case which is why it is important to do an audit on your brand. Small business advocate, mentor, and marketing strategist, Bryce Root, shares the five key areas of your brand you should be checking to stay up to date.
5 things to check on in order to keep your brand relevant
Brand description, communication style, and customer service: Does how you describe yourself match the way that your customers describe you? Your brand needs to resonate and align with how your customers would describe you.
Keep your brand’s messaging short, sweet, and relevant: Can you describe your business in 15 seconds or less? 15 seconds is a common length for TikTok and Instagram. Attention spans are shorter today so you have to capture their attention quickly and simply. If you currently aren’t able to do that, work on developing a mini brand guide.
A brand guide should include 2 powerful sentences that explain how you are different from competitors, a tagline of 2-5 words that describe your bottom line, positioning phrases that help customers connect the dots, and create the light bulb moment that causes them to stop scrolling and look at your product, and last, but not least, an elevator pitch to verbally get potential customers excited about your business in 30 seconds.
Pay attention to your vibe: Make sure your target customers are greeted with a look and feel that matches your company and gives them a full understanding of what it stands for. Update your company photos and bios on the website to ensure that they are relevant to the latest trends and technology.
Don’t let your brand be lazy: Actively update all assets and profiles everywhere so they know you are still active and your brand is consistent.
Use video: Pictures are worth a thousand words, but videos are worth a million (or more) views! If you have the chance to show what your brand is about and tell your story strategically and creatively via video, do it! This helps give customers a more engaging experience than a static post ever will.
