GraceHacks Seeking Sponsors for Fall 2022

What is GraceHacks?

GraceHacks, a beginner-friendly student-led hackathon for women and non-binary students in tech, was started by a group of UC Santa Cruz students who noticed the gender gap in STEM and wanted to change that narrative. Our goal is to create a space for underrepresented groups to learn and explore their interests in tech and apply this knowledge in the real world.

The aim of GraceHacks is to foster a welcoming and supportive hackathon environment for womxn and non-binary students. GraceHacks strives to empower these underrepresented groups and ensure that they have the confidence to create without inherent bias or sexism and to encourage their passion to excel in STEM fields. The event includes a day full of hacking, learning, and using new technologies. Participants are encouraged to use technology to create a product that solves a real world problem. Since there is an emphasis on collaboration, GraceHacks gives students valuable teamwork and project experience that’s different from what they would learn in a traditional classroom setting.

GraceHacks held its first 12-hour hackathon in October 2020 with over 100 attendees. This year will be our third year hosting GraceHacks and we hope to have 100+ women and non-binary students attend, develop new skills, and grow in a supportive, low-pressure environment.

What we’re looking for:

We hope to hold this year’s hackathon during Fall 2022 at the University of California Santa Cruz. We’re currently looking for sponsors to make the third iteration of GraceHacks possible. Our sponsorship packet includes more information.

Another way to support us is by volunteering to be mentors, judges, and/or workshop leaders at our hackathon. Mentors and workshops are a large part of a hackathon, as they allow students to interact with experienced people in the field and learn about specifical technical and soft skills. Any support would be greatly appreciated.

Why sponsor GraceHacks?

  • Branding: Advertise your company as a promoter of diversity in technological fields by

being featured on our website, social media, and attendee swag.

  • Mentorship: Send mentors or volunteers to our hackathon to recruit students for your

company. University students are eager to learn about the industry and gain advice and

    perspective from professionals.

  • Product exposure: Advertise your product at our hackathon to spread word about your

    company and its technologies.
