New voting system for Super Tuesday in Santa Cruz County
Santa Cruz County voters have a new choice when they go to the polls, they can vote by paper or with a new high tech tablet.
The county has leased about 150 of the new voting machines which is an ADA user-friendly tablet. Using it is almost like ordering food from a kiosk and more importantly, they're safe to use for voting.
"This is our new voting system. It's an ICX tablet and at the polls, the poll worker will have a card," said Santa Cruz County Clerk, Gail Pellerin.
You enter a code to make sure you are the correct person voting, choose a language - either English or Spanish. Once you take control, you tap through various settings, select the name of a candidate or a measure and vote.
You have an option to navigate the pad from the top.
"At the very end you'll get a review screen and at the review screen all the choices are listed and then you print the ballot," said Pellerin.
Santa Cruz County replaced its old voting system after they were decertified for use in California.
