Santa Cruz Climate Action Network (SCCAN) will be a featured participant at Blue Innovation Day 2024, bringing its vital message of climate action to the community. SCCAN is committed to addressing the current Climate Change Emergency, recognizing that failure to act swiftly will result in devastating impacts on future generations of both humans and other life forms.

At Blue Innovation Day, SCCAN will highlight its wide range of activities, all aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions and fostering sustainable practices. One of SCCAN’s primary efforts is public education and outreach, which includes organizing public meetings to spread awareness about the urgency of climate action. The organization has successfully pressed the City Council and Board of Supervisors to adopt Emergency Climate Resolutions and continues to lobby for critical regulations, such as electrification, climate-smart agriculture support, and ambitious carbon neutrality targets.

SCCAN also plays a key role in educational initiatives, teaching about climate change in public schools and providing local teacher training. Their education efforts are supported by a range of resources available on their website, including lesson plans, PowerPoint presentations, and educational videos.

Public communication is another cornerstone of SCCAN’s strategy. They maintain a visible presence in the community through regular updates posted on the Santa Cruz Community Calendar, weekly emails, radio appearances, and event participation. By coordinating with other climate action groups, SCCAN amplifies its impact and fosters collaboration across the region.

At Blue Innovation Day 2024, SCCAN will share its insights on how local communities can play a part in the global fight against climate change, offering resources and information to inspire others to take action.
