About Santa Cruz Public Libraries:
The Santa Cruz Public Library System (SCPL) enriches lives and strengthens communities through a network of 10 neighborhood library branches, a web-based digital library, a Bookmobile, and community-based programming. The library's mission revolves around inclusion, connection, and collaboration, aiming to empower individuals and foster community strength.
SCPL conducted a Facilities Master Plan study in 2013, leading to the approval of Measure S in June 2016, providing $67 million for the construction or remodeling of ten branch libraries. Substantial community investment has resulted in modern, flexible library spaces designed to meet evolving community needs for decades to come. The ongoing Downtown Santa Cruz Library & Affordable Housing project, approved by the Santa Cruz Council in March 2023, highlights the pivotal role of the Library Director in leading this modern and accessible library to its fruition.
