Strengthening 6 Key Components: People Issues

“Look, I don't really know where we should take this bus. But I know this much: If we get the right people on the bus, the right people in the right seats, and the wrong people off the bus, then we'll figure out how to take it someplace great” jim

The EOS framework, which stands for Entrepreneurial Operating System, is a holistic approach to running a business. It's designed to be more than just a set of tools; it's a comprehensive system for aligning leadership, teams, and processes around a shared vision to achieve traction (growth and success).

Here's what makes EOS relevant:

  • Focus, Discipline, and Accountability: EOS helps define clear goals, assigns ownership, and tracks progress. This keeps everyone focused and accountable for achieving results.

  • Strengthens Core Components: The framework focuses on six key areas crucial for any business: Vision, People, Data, Issues, Process, and Traction. By strengthening these components, companies can address weaknesses and improve overall performance.

  • Alignment and Communication: EOS emphasizes clear communication and shared goals. This ensures everyone in the organization is working towards the same objectives.

  • Scalability: As a business grows, EOS provides a structure to maintain focus and avoid common growing pains.

EOS is typically used by small to mid-sized businesses (10-250 employees) but can be relevant for companies of any size looking to improve their operational effectiveness.

Below, Stephanie Tsatsos comments on one aspect of EOS: people.

“Right people, right seats...you’ve got have both.” Companies running on EOS understand this and hear it often. It’s all about making sure that your team members not only fit your company’s core values but are also in roles that fit their unique skills and abilities.

Right people: these are people in your company who share and embody your company’s core values. They fit well within your company culture and contribute positively to the team dynamic (feels good to be around them).

Right seats: this refers to roles/seats within the company that are suited to their unique skills, strengths, and passions. It’s about aligning roles with the capabilities of each team member.

Core values: your companies core values are unique. No two companies will ever have the same unique core values. Defining them is crucial. They will guide all of your hiring decisions and help maintain a cohesive team that’s dedicated to achieving your long term vision and plan.

GWC: the GWC framework stands for “get it, want it, capacity to do it.” It’s used to evaluate whether team members understand their role, are passionate about it, and have the ability to perform it effectively.

People analyzer: a tool used by companies running on EOS to assess if team members are the right fit for their seat, meet your company’s unique core values and GWC the role.

Accountability chart: starting with finding the right structure first - we then set out to identifying and place the right people in those right seats with clearly defined roles (jobs/responsibilities). This creates massive clarity throughout the company.

It’s all about having the right people in the right seats, doing the right work!
