In 2016, Regeneración was founded to combat climate change with local impacts and engage on a local level to build resilient communities. During recent times, the organization has turned their gaze over to females who can power through the repercussions of white male domination. It has been made clear that women in roles of leadership - especially Indigenous women, women of color, and low income women - are necessary to ensure a sustainable future.

Regeneración Director Nancy Faulstich believes in a future where individuals of every race and gender will unite under one of the greatest movements throughout human history, the social justice issue of climate change. Common goals include protecting our home, putting an end to all oppression, and creating societies filled with harmony. She highlights that women and men have far more in common, despite the only significant difference being their biological roles in reproduction.

Typically, women have been viewed to handle low-carbon tasks “(bearing and raising children, growing food, feeding people, caring for the young and the elderly, nursing)”, while men handle the high-carbon tasks that are responsible for the “destruction of life through war, overproduction of things, excavation and plundering of the resources of the earth.” From the biological aspects of their bodies to education to domestic violence, women have experienced many obstacles from the effects of climate change. However, with the knowledge that women harbor on how to nurture and sustain life on Earth, they can contribute towards building a movement that will reverse the effects of global warming.

On March 3, 2021, Regeneración will hold its annual Climate of Hope Forum featuring how women are leading the way for just climate solutions. Throughout the two-hour event, there will be various voices that will represent female experiences. There will also be a networking hour that will provide an opportunity for the audience to interact, converse, raise additional topics, and bring forth other perspectives.
