Bay Area Cyber Student Tech Team Members Find Career Success
The Bay Area Cyber League’s summer camp is facing a unique challenge as top student camp leaders are hired by tech companies before new staff can be found. The summer camp’s rigorous curriculum and strong industry partnerships provide an ideal space for students from Cabrillo College and other institutions to transition to full-time jobs.
Denise Moss, Bay Area Cyber Competitions Regional Project Director reflects on a student’s recent success.
“Our lead student Tech Team member has just been hired by a start-up MSP company full time. He started taking dual enrollment courses and joined our Tech Team in high school. He’s incredibly talented and driven!”
The camp’s empowering format provides an opportunity for students to gain technical knowledge and practical experience. Thanks to close connections with industry, camp programs are developed to meet employers’ needs.
Irvin Lemus, Bay Area Cyber Competitions Regional Program Coordinator summarizes the unique value of the program and partnerships.
“The partnership with employers is a mutual benefit as employers tell teachers like Sam and Irvin what their needs are and what is new in tech. In response, we train students to meet those identified current and future needs, thus providing a fresh crop of ready workers.”
As students get to understand the industry and prove their skills, recruiters are close with a valuable pathway to career success.
