Joby Aviation shared via Twitter on March 30, 2023 that the company’s founder and CEO, JoeBen Bevirt, was invited to testify before the House Subcommittee leader, Chairman Graves, Ranking Member Cohen, and distinguished members of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Subcommittee on Aviation on the opportunity for continued American leadership in aerospace.
During his testimony, JoeBen commented on the topic of FAA reauthorization and the emerging industry of advanced air mobility (AAM) and shared several requests for the FAA. He stressed the need for clear, consistent regulatory frameworks that enable companies to start operating immediately upon certification, in addition to a continued focus on making the US a leader in aviation technologies. To this end, he urged the FAA to stick to its well-established policy framework, emphasizing that decisions must be made swiftly and decisively to keep pace with the industry’s expansion. JoeBen also shares the history of Joby Aviation’s relationship with FAA, Joby’s certification journey, the industry need to support workforce development, as well as the consequences that the U.S. will face if the FAA fails to maintain its position as a global leader in cleaner, quieter, and safer aviation.
